Hearty food, delicious beer and a view to die for… what more could you ask of a brewery in our great South West?
A month or so ago, I ventured down to the southern part of our state (in the beautiful Volvo XC60 from Barbagallo Volvo) as a part of my #volvobloggerdrive road trip (more on this to come later). At the top of my ‘places to visit’ list for the trip was Eagle Bay Brewing Co. I had only heard good things about EBB, and who am I to turn down a good view with delicious beverage in hand?!
Set back from the beach, on some family owned farmland, EBBC has one of the most beautiful vistas I have seen at a brewery. EBBC looks out across the scrub covered hills and lake that make up the sheep and cattle farm, right through to the ocean in the distance, visible from any spot in the large indoor-outdoor dining area. The view was so magnificent, mum and I could have basked in the winter sunshine on the verandah for hours on end. Ahem… mum and I DID bask in the winter sunshine on the verandah for hours on end.
With so many delicious meals on the menu, and a promise of high quality local produce, we may have done a little over ordering. Forgetting that brewery’s aren’t light handed on the serving spoon, we stuffed ourselves full trying to get to the end of the gigantic serves on each plate. Mum was left to demolish the entire peri-peri chicken pizza thanks to her gluten intolerant offspring, and I took the ceviche style seafood all to myself, before we really got stuck in and tackled our hearty mains. Copious amounts of food was accompanied by copious amounts of beer and EBBC white, which, along with the sunshine and relaxing atmosphere, slowly sent us into a sleepy food coma.
The fact we wiled away 4 hours of our day trip down south at EBBC didn’t bother us in the slightest, as it is the sort of venue you could comfortably spend an entire day at. Being family owned and operated, there is a certain homeliness to the place, and all the staff made you feel like you were a part of the EBBC culture and family. If the fantastic produce and gorgeous view weren’t enough to get us back, the EBBC culture has hands down won us over!
If you are heading down south for the long weekend this weekend,Eagle Bay Brewing Co is well worth a visit!
