3 skincare products I have tried, tested and will definitely be buying again!
It has been a while since I spoke skincare or beauty over here, but some things just can’t go unsaid.
I bloody love these products.
There, I said it. Now, I am no beauty buff – I put moisturiser in my hair to maintain frizz, for God sake – but when you come across what you think is a good thing, I feel it only fair to share. When you have super fussy skin, finding a product that works for you becomes even more pertinent – a la the following 3 skin care products. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be reinvesting in these once they are empty.
Face scrubs tend to be a bit hit and miss for me, but this Ocean Salt scrub by Lush is a home run. I have long said that swimming in the ocean does wonders for my skin, and this scrub is basically just bringing a prettier smelling, less sandy ocean home with me.
Not even joking, this scrub was made for me. Vodka steeped limes, sea salt, coconut – it sounds like some sort of delicious cocktail served in a beach front bar. I digress. Honestly, this is the best scrub I have ever used. Have I said that yet? The delicious lime, coconut and grapefruit scent is just as invigorating as the mineral rich salt; and the avocado butter, coconut oil and seaweed leave your skin feeling super soft and supple post scrub.
BONUS: You can take your tub back in to Lush once you are done and get a refill. Yay for being a conscious consumer!
Things I am not good at: Wearing moisturiser during the day. Holy sweat buckets!
This Amperna Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic Serum has been a lifesaver in the warmer months. It is light enough to be used during the day (no oily residue or thick, heavy feeling) and it is just as, if not more, potent as some of the thicker creams.
Given its name, you would have guessed that it contains hyaluronic acid, but it is also packed with antioxidants and a special probiotic complex unique to Amperna. The brand is actually the first in Australia to use active probiotics in their skincare, which help to protect, calm and soothe the skin.
Basically, despite it being quite light on the skin, this is a super powerful protective and restorative serum. I am so stoked to have found it!
Yes, clearly this isn’t a student-budget friendly cleanser. But don’t be put off by the price just yet! I promise that you get your monies-worth from it.
Because this is a foaming cleanser, you can literally use less than the size of 5 cent piece. It lathers and expands so beautifully, even just a tiny bit covers your whole face. I am actually obsessed with the way it feels! Super thick and with tiny bubbles, it almost feels like you are putting on a lush face mask every night.
I happen to think it smells pretty lush too. It might not be to everyone’s smell receptors, but it smells fresh and clean. Just what I want in a cleanser.
If you aren’t familiar with La Mer, all of their products contain a cell renewing ‘miracle broth’, derived from kelp – this cleanser included. It is a potent brew that works at smoothing, plumping and renewing skin. Once I have washed my face, my skin does feel a little tight, but nothing that a bit of moisturiser doesn’t fix!
Long story short – it might be a little more exxy, but it really is a lush product. Plus, you use so little of it each wash, that it does go a long way. If you are anything like me and don’t spend a ton of money on an array of skincare and beauty products, then investing in the products that you do use all the time isn’t such a far off idea.
